Ten drivers have been issued with grid penalties for today's GP3 feature race at Valencia, nine of which were for failing to slow for the yellow flag caused by Mirko Bortolotti stopping in the middle of the track late in yesterday's practice session.
All of the penalties are for three grid places and the most significant change affects series debutant Roberto Merhi, who had originally qualified second for Atech but will now start from fifth.
Michael Christensen (MW Arden) has dropped from fourth to seventh, Stefano Coletti (Tech 1) falls from 10th to 13th, Alexander Rossi (ART) goes from 11th to 14th, Pablo Sanchez Lopez (Addax) drops from 16th to 19th, Dean Smith (Carlin) falls from 22nd to 25th, Daniel Morad (Status) drops from 25th to 28th, James Jakes (Manor) moves from 26th to 29th, and Lucas Foresti (Carlin) remains in 30th and last.
The 10th penalty was dealt to Addax's Felipe Guimaraes after the Brazilian was found to have crossed the pit exit line during free practice, relegating him from sixth on the grid to ninth.
