Robby Gordon will return to the Dakar Rally after confirming he will drive a Hummer H3 in the 2013 edition of the event.
The 43-year-old American, who had five outings in the NASCAR Sprint Cup this year with his own team, will return to the South American event after being excluded from last year's edition. Gordon finished fifth on the road, but was competing under an appeal which was ultimately rejected following a dispute over a tire inflation system on his car.
Dakar organizers said Gordon's Hummer fulfills all regulatory requirements following preliminary checks.
Gordon, whose best result in the South American rally is a third place in 2009, will have Kellon Walch as his navigator.
The Dakar Rally takes place from Jan. 5 to Jan. 20.
