Goodyear was named the Official Tire of the SCCA Pro Trans-Am Series today in a relationship that will pair the two iconic brands through the 2012 season.

Each car in the 2010 Trans-Am Series will run on Goodyear's 430 compound tire.

"We know that the 800-horsepower Trans-Am Series cars really put a tire to the test over 90-mile races," SCCA Pro Racing President and CEO Robert Wildberger said. "Goodyear has proven again and again that it's a great tire for the Series, and we're looking forward to reuniting Trans-Am with Goodyear."

Goodyear has had a long history in Trans-Am, winning races and championships in the Series dating back to the 1960s.

"We're honored to be the tire supplier to the Trans-Am Series," said Greg Stucker, Director of Race Tire Sales for Goodyear. "With the series having such a rich history in American motorsports, we're proud that SCCA Pro Racing has chosen us as its partner."

The 10-race 2010 Trans-Am Series schedule begins at New Jersey Motorsports Park, May 8 -9. The schedule features six headlining events for the Trans-Am Series, as well as races with the NASCAR Nationwide Series, IZOD IndyCar Series, NASCAR Camping World Series and the American Le Mans Series.
