Dario Franchitti was quickest again in final practice ahead of qualifying for the IZOD IndyCar Series' Milwaukee round.
For much of the session, it looked like KV Racing Technology might come away with an encouraging one-two. The field was split into two groups, each getting half an hour of running, and KV's Tony Kanaan was fastest in the first half, before his teammate Takuma Sato hit the front in the second segment. But in the closing minutes Ganassi driver Franchitti slipped ahead of Sato by 0.0474sec, with Will Power (Penske) then demoting Kanaan to fourth.
Ryan Hunter-Reay was the quickest Andretti Autosport runner again in fifth, ahead of Ganassi's Scott Dixon and the third KV car of EJ Viso. Helio Castroneves set th eighth quickest time for Penske.
Graham Rahal (Ganassi), Oriol Servia (Newman/Haas) and Ana Beatriz (Dreyer & Reinbold) were second, third and fourth behind Kanaan in the first half hour, which translated to ninth, 10th and 11th in combined times once the second group had been out.
