Target Chip Ganassi Racing announced Thursday that its No. 10 IndyCar driven by Dario Franchitti will carry primary sponsorship from Kellogg's in a pair of IZOD IndyCar Series races this season. The reigning IndyCar Series and Indianapolis 500 champion will drive a car backed by the cereal and convenience foods giant in Sao Paulo, Brazil on May 1, and on the streets of Baltimore on Sept. 4.
“Kellogg Company has been involved with motorsports on a number of levels through the years, but this is our first foray into an IZOD IndyCar Series program,” said Melissa Pawlowicz, Sr. Director, consumer promotions for Kellogg Co. “Dario is a tremendous talent and we look forward to him and the team representing us on and off the track in 2011. We're excited about what the Ganassi organization offers and look forward to continuing the momentum we've seen with IndyCar recently.”
Added Steve Lauletta, president of Chip Ganassi Racing, “We are very happy to begin this new relationship with the Kellogg Company on our IndyCar program. I think it says a lot about our team when companies like Kellogg's are interested in leveraging a sponsorship to help grow their business. We collectively feel the partnership will help them drive awareness of their brand with the huge number of race fans who are watching our cars each week.”
