Van der Zande leads Spa practice

Renger van der Zande warmed up for round seven of the British Formula 3 Championship by topping the combined times after two sessions of free practice at Spa Francorchamps today. The Dutchman lapped the 4.35-mile circuit in a 2m36.984s best, right at the death of the quicker second session, held on a wet but drying track. The Hitech Racing driver had earlier set the sixth fastest time in the wetter morning session, having struggled with the balance of his Dallara-Mercedes.

ART to join British F3 for two races

Top F3 Euro Series squad ART will tackle the British F3 championship at two of the remaining five rounds. The French squad, winners of the F3 Euro Series for the past six seasons, will field its four regular drivers: championship leader Jules Bianchi, F3 Master Valtteri Bottas, reigning Formula BMW Europe champion Esteban Gutierrez and Adrien Tambay at Spa later this month and again at the penultimate round of the championship in the Algarve in September. Welcoming ART Grand Prix to British F3, championship co-ordinator Fiona Pawley said: "We are delighted that a team with such a Formula 3 pedigree will be joining the series at Spa; it will be fascinating to see how they get on against the cream of the British teams.
 

Gutierrez leads Masters practice

Mexican rookie Esteban Gutierrez drew first blood in the Masters of Formula 3 at Zandvoort by setting the fastest time in free practice this morning. Reigning Formula BMW Europe champion Gutierrez leapt to the top of the timesheet in the final minute of the half-hour session for reigning Euro Series champion and recent Masters dominator ART. His Dallara-Mercedes' 1m32.354s best out-did his reigning Formula Renault Eurocup champion team-mate Valtteri Bottas, who set a similarly late best time, by just 0.055 seconds

Ron Fellows Joins Cadillac SPEED GT Squad for Mosport

DETROIT – The General Motors' Cadillac CTS-V racing team will field a third car for Round 6 and 7 of the SCCA SPEED World Challenge GT at Mosport International Raceway on August 7 and 8. Ron Fellows, Corvette C5-R driver, will pilot the #12 CTS-V race car in the events, joining Max Angelelli and Andy Pilgrim on Team Cadillac. The Mosport weekend consists of two SPEED GT races; Fellows will compete in three races during the weekend as he will also continue with his role with the Corvette team.
 

Rossi, Gutierrez get BMW F1 test
