PITTSTON, PA (Aug. 10, 2006) -- Joel Lipperini, 2-time SSC National Champion will drive for the new PlanetMiata.com team in the recently formed SCCA Touring 3 class for the remainder of the 2006 National Racing Season in a 2004 Mazdaspeed MX-5.
Planet Miata.com the #1 World supplier of new, used & salvage Mazda Miata parts will add to its extensive motorsports activities by sponsoring Lipperini in the new SCCA Touring 3 Class. The newly formed team will campaign a turbo-charged MX-5 Mazdaspeed Miata in T3. “Our goal – to win T3. We feel as though the driving talent, expertise and sponsors Joel Lipperini brings with him combined with our extensive Mazda Miata experience will greatly increase our chances to score the first SCCA T3 National Championship - making a mark on SCCA Motorsports history and strengthening our market position”.
Lipperini brings his title sponsor Hankook Tire to the Planet Miata.com team. Hankook Tire recently made its mark in SCCA competition by winning its first SCCA National Championship in 2004 and Divisional Championship in 2003 with Lipperini at the wheel. Lipperini has competed on Hankook Tires for 3 years in SCCA Showroom Stock and Touring competition scoring numerous wins, pole positions, track records and championships. The team took delivery of the vehicle recently and Planet Miata.com has entered the car in virtually every remaining National race in the country.
