Ford World Rally Team crews Mikko Hirvonen, Jarmo Lehtinen, Jari-Matti Latvala and Miikka Antiila will do their bit for UK charity Sport Relief during next week's Rally Mexico – running one of the special stages on foot. The Finnish rally stars have picked their stage wisely, however, selecting the 1,500-meter Coca-Cola Street Stage in Leon on which to make their athletic debut.

They will be joined on the streets of the rally's home town by Stobart crews Matthew Wilson and Henning Solberg, Munchi's driver Federico Villagra and Monster driver Ken Block. An assortment of Ford engineers will also pound out the mile and a bit next Thursday. Ford drivers will be running in Sport Relief T-shirts for this event – designed by British soccer star David Beckham and his family.

Hirvonen said: "I'm really looking forward to getting out there with the whole team and doing something for charity. We raised money for Comic Relief last year and I hope we can raise even more for Sport Relief this year. Running isn't my strong point, but I'm up for the challenge. I'm a better boxer than a runner I think! I also need to beat Jarmo or I have to buy him dinner."
