Ford has confirmed Mikko Hirvonen will not contest either of the next two rounds of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, despite reports linking the Finn to more Fiesta S2000 outings.
There had been speculation that Hirvonen was highly likely to enter the Ypres Rally in Belgium at least, giving him more asphalt mileage ahead of July's Rally Bulgaria – the first asphalt event of the World Rally Championship season.
A Ford spokesman said: "We have heard the same rumors about Mikko, but he won't be in Sardinia or Ypres. He will be driving on a test in Spain on the same weekend as the Ypres."
Hirvonen will share the test Focus RS WRC 09 with teammate Jari-Matti Latvala on a four-day Bulgaria setup test.
