Qatar M-Sport driver Evgeny Novikov has promised there is more speed to come from his Ford, following his stunning morning on day two of the Monte Carlo Rally.
The Russian star won two of Thursday morning's three stages, elevating him from sixth to fourth place, just behind third-placed Dani Sordo's Citroen.
"This morning felt good for me," said Novikov. "Maybe I was too cautious yesterday, but today I am pushing harder, and there is still some more speed to come. But, if I push harder than I am starting to play on the limit..."
M-Sport team principal Malcolm Wilson admitted his concerns at Novikov's talk of going quicker.
"I am worried about that!" smiled Wilson. "In all honesty, he's driving a great rally. He's got good confidence and he's enjoying himself.
"On speed, it's not really possible for Evgeny to win this rally, but this is the Monte and anything can happen in the next couple of days."
Novikov was also quick to praise his highly-experienced gravel crew Francois Delecour and Denis Giraudet.
"I think I have the best gravel crew," he said, "they have great experience of this rally and that's helping me."
