Franck Montagny claimed his first Superleague win with an inspired drive at Jarama. The ex-F1 driver and sports car star pulled off a great move around the outside of Roma's Julian Jousse to hand Bordeaux its maiden success in the football-meets-racing series.
Montagny and Jousse had been involved in a three-way dice for the lead up until the mandatory stops, but a terribly slow one for Sporting's Borja Garcia dropped him out of the reckoning.
The top three had established a huge lead over the rest as Corinthians' Robert Doornbos held up the chasing pack. Tottenham's Craig Dolby took advantage of a great stop to leap into third, but he could make no impression on the leaders.
There was a thrilling fight as positions three to 13 ran together. Dolby came out on top, ahead of Liverpool's James Walker and Doornbos. Race one protagonists John Martin and Yelmer Buurman came home ninth and 10th, with the Beijing car moving ahead after a slow stop for AC Milan.
