The FIA has announced that it has adopted a new registration system in "order to preserve the safety and the image" of Formula 1.
The new system, which applies to all teams competing in the championship, means all squads will be required to nominate a number of senior members to register with the FIA at the start of each season. The registered team members will be granted a formal certificate and will be required to comply with the new FIA Code of Good Standing, starting at the beginning of the 2011 season.
"The FIA and Formula 1's participating teams share a common vision for the safety and image of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship," said the FIA in a statement. "With this in mind, all parties, after fruitful and positive discussions, have agreed to implement this registration system."
