Ferrari has escaped sanction for using its second curfew exception of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend, after team representatives were summoned to see the stewards on Saturday morning.
The Italian squad is pulling out all the stops to ensure that Fernando Alonso has the best car possible to take the fight to Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel at Yas Marina. Those efforts have resulted in extra hours for Ferrari's mechanics, who remained within the confines of the circuit during the curfew hours on both Thursday night and Friday night.
Amid some debate over whether sanctions should be handed down for multiple curfew breakages on the same weekend, the stewards were asked to investigate. However, following discussions on Saturday morning, the officials decided that Ferrari was within the rules and that teams can use more than one curfew "mulligan" at the same event.
A statement issued by the FIA on Saturday said: "Having heard the team representative, the stewards note that the Ferrari team now have used two of their four exceptions under the above regulations [relating to curfew]. As a result the stewards decide no further action in necessary."
