The Audi R8 LMS can compete for a top six finish in this weekend's Spa 24 Hours, according to lead driver Marcel Fassler.
Despite qualifying only 17th overall (but first in the G2 class) in yesterday's rain interrupted session, Fassler believes the car has the pace to compete with the latest GT1 machines.
"The car can show more than it did in qualifying - we only had three laps and I didn't get a good lap in," he said.
Fassler thinks the VLN-spec car, which proved competitive at the Nurburgring 24 Hours, is similar in pace to the new-generation GT1 Ford GT and Nissan GT-R that qualified sixth and eighth respectively.
"I think, if we have normal conditions, we can be close to the Ford and Nissan," he said.
"You need some help from the others, but I think if we can be in the top five or seven it would be a really good race for us."
Fassler will share the Phoenix Racing-run car with Henri Moser, Alexander Margaritis and Marc Basseng in the race, which kicks off tomorrow afternoon.
