Oliver Turvey has been stripped of his fifth place finish in today's Formula Renault 3.5 feature race at Spa.
The British Formula 3 runner-up was judged by the stewards to have overtaken Spanish championship leader Marcos Martinez by running outside the boundaries of the circuit at the Bus Stop chicane on the last lap.
Turvey was awarded a 25 second penalty , which drops the Carlin driver to 15th position.
"The stewards seemed to have seen the incident on a circuit camera or CCTV camera," said Turvey, "and in their view I gained an advantage. I felt I was, actually, already ahead of Martinez and I only ran wide on the last part of the corner to avoid turning into accident.
"I think the penalty is very harsh. At worst they should have just swapped the positions back, but obviously the regulations do not allow for that."
