TOPEKA, Kan. (Jan. 22, 2008) – Two more thrilling races from the 2007 SCCA National Championship Runoffs air Wednesday on SPEED.
At noon (EST), Brian Linn rolls onto the grid hoping to claim an F Production Championship after narrowly missing out on the H Production title. Starting second in his MG Midget, Linn faces some stiff competition in defending FP Champion and polesitter Jesse Prather. When the green flag drops, local favorite Prather takes the early lead in his Mazda Miata, but Linn is in hot pursuit. On lap five, Linn makes his move, but can only hold the lead for a corner. The two continue to trade the lead for the remaining 13 laps, creating one of the best races of the 2007 Runoffs.
Next at 1 p.m., J.R. Osborne starts D Sports Racing from pole for the second year in-a-row, but is not revisited by the same mechanical gremlins that shortened his race last year. Instead, Osborne rockets away from the field, leaving all eyes on the battle for second between Jean-Luc Liverato and defending DSR Champion Mark Jaremko. Things heat up in the closing laps when the pair hit lapped traffic, so make sure you follow this one all the way to the checkered flag.
Both the FP and DSR races will re-air on SPEED, Thursday, Jan. 24, at 3 and 4 a.m., respectively.
