Mitch Evans topped the second day of GP3 testing at Silverstone on Thursday.
The MW Arden driver, who is the standout championship favorite ahead of the season, moved to the top of the times early in the afternoon session as track conditions improved after a damp start to the day.
Evans knocked Carlin's Antonio Felix da Costa off the top spot after the Portuguese driver had led the way following a flurry of activity before lunch when the track dried out.
Conor Daly and Tio Ellinas were among the other drivers to have brief spells at the head of the field before lunch, and their times stood through the afternoon running to leave them third and fourth on the day.
New Carlin signing Will Buller set the fifth fastest time, while Evans's closest challenger in the afternoon - Robert Visoiu - rounded out the top six for the day.
