Aston Martin driver Tomas Enge has confirmed that the team will not push to try and beat Audi to third at Le Mans.
The #007 Lola Aston Martin, which Enge shares with Stefan Mucke and Jan Charouz, has had a relatively trouble-free run so far and currently lies fourth.
Various problems for the #1 Audi have allowed the Aston to move within two laps with less than three hours to go, but Enge says the team will not up its pace and risk the car by chasing Audi.
"We're doing our own race," he said. "We know even if we push we won't have a chance to catch the diesel cars. We've not had any problems, so it's perfect. I would love to finish this race for Aston Martin in fourth or better."
The best lap recorded by the #007, a 3m29.360s, is nearly three seconds slower than the #1 Audi's fastest, set by Allan McNish.
