Colin Edwards has been diagnosed with a fractured collarbone following his fall in practice at Catalunya.
The Tech 3 rider crashed at Turn 5 after switching to slicks in the damp-but-drying session. He was clearly in discomfort after the accident and had to be taken away on a stretcher. Subsequent checks at the track's medical center then confirmed the injury, which is set to rule him out of this weekend's Catalunya Grand Prix. He will now be assessed in hospital to see if surgery is required.
The MotoGP field was already down to 16 bikes for this event with Honda's Dani Pedrosa having sustained a collarbone injury of his own in a collision with Marco Simoncelli during last month's French GP.
