Colin Edwards has been denied medical clearance to take part in today's Catalunya Grand Prix.

The Tech 3 Yamaha rider had hoped be might be allowed to take the start despite having only had a plate fitted to his broken collarbone in an operation in a Barcelona hospital yesterday.

Edwards sustained the injury when he fell in Friday practice.

Having not missed a race since he joined MotoGP in 2003, Edwards had hoped to maintain his run of continuous starts, but will now have to watch the race from the sidelines. His team-mate Cal Crutchlow has qualified sixth.
