The Toronto Sun reports that the Edmonton IZOD IndyCar Series race, which was abruptly canceled for 2011 following a switch of location from using one runway of the downtown airport to another and the associated $2-3 million paving costs, could be restored for 2012 – possibly in association with NASCAR. The newspaper reports that event organizers are hopeful of reviving the Honda Indy Edmonton with a NASCAR Nationwide Series round to go with the IndyCar race on either the preceding or following weekend, beginning in 2012.
“I'm pretty sure Octane is taking a look at it, but the first priority is to make sure Indy happens,” Go Indy committee chairman Richard Wong told the Sun.
