Bernie Ecclestone's on-again, off-again interest in running a Formula 1 street race in New York City appears to be back on. The F1's commercial czar told Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport that he hopes to run a race there by 2012.

"I'm trying for 2012, opposite Manhattan in New Jersey with skyscrapers in the background," Ecclestone said, adding that the track could be located reasonably close to the urban center, "15 minutes from the center of New York to the circuit. It would be marvelous."
