Formula 1 commercial manager Bernie Ecclestone has recruited the highly respected O2 Arena chief David Campbell to help his group of companies.

Campbell, who is a former boss of Virgin Radio and helped transform the O2 Arena into a commercial success, will work for the Geneva-based Allsport Management company that oversees F1's corporate hospitality Paddock Club.

Speaking to Britain's Press Association, Ecclestone said: "He is going to join Allsport run by Mr. [Paddy] McNally in Geneva and be helping him. He needs a bit of help.

"He hasn't started yet, so we'll have to see what exactly he is going to do or not do, obviously. It's too new to know. I hope he can do it. It's a completely different thing than what he has been doing at O2. But he's a commercial-minded guy, so I'm sure there will be no problems."
