Ecclestone hedging on high definition F1 broadcasts for 2011
After indicating earlier this year that Formula 1 races would finally be broadcast in high definition next year, the sport's commercial manager, Bernie Ecclestone, has now suggested that next year's broadcasts will in fact be a 50-50 hybrid of HD and standard definition.
In an interview with German media, Ecclestone cited the cumbersome size of high definition cameras, which are too big to be installed on board F1 cars. Ecclestone said it was likely the 2011 F1 feed will be "50 percent HD and 50 percent standard definition."
