Jamie Whincup, Triple 8 Holden, Eastern Creek 2012Eastern Creek has been dropped from the V8 Supercar calendar for 2013, replaced by the Australian-based series U.S. debut in Austin next May.

The venue was reopened this year following major renovations and hosted the eighth round of the series in August. But the addition of Austin's Circuit of The Americas means that the venue's only appearance of the year will be in hosting the championship's official pre-season test in February.

"It's a very exciting calendar with a fantastic two month climax to the season," series CEO David Malone said. "As a sport we are ultimately aiming for consistency of events year on year and largely we have achieved this in what is a very complex process.

"We are very happy with the way 2013 shapes up for the fans, the teams, sponsors, Government partners, our broadcast partners and the sport."

A non-points event will be held, as usual, in support of the Australian Grand Prix in March.
