Dreyer & Reinbold Racing announced Friday that Tomas Scheckter will drive the team's No. 23 car as a third entry at Indianapolis next month, joining team regulars Justin Wilson and Mike Conway.

Scheckter raced with D&R last year at 10 IndyCar events for the team with a best finish of sixth at Iowa Speedway. This year will mark Scheckter's ninth time at the 500. His best result was fourth with Chip Ganassi Racing in 2003. He also ranks fifth among active drivers in most laps led at Indy, with 148.

“We are excited to have Tomas join our team for the Indy 500. He did a great job for us last year and we are extremely happy that we were able to work something out with him for this event,” said team co-owner Dennis Reinbold.

“I'm really happy to be back with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing and to be working with Larry Curry again,” said Scheckter, who drove for Tony George's Vision Racing IndyCar squad in 2006-'07. “I feel at home. We had a great Indy test at the end of last year and I feel that the momentum that the team has built on the road/street courses with Mike and Justin, we can carry that on to the ovals. Also, having Justin as my teammate last year at Indy, we worked very well together. Dennis and Robbie have been very supportive of getting this done and feel like we have a chance to do great things this year at the speedway,” commented Scheckter.
