Jonny Cocker took Drayson Racing to a commanding pole position for the Mid-Ohio American Le Mans Series race. The Lola-Judd driver was unbeatable throughout the session, and generally held a margin of under a second over the competition regardless of what his rivals tried.

Cocker ended on a 1m10.034s lap, which put him 0.932sec clear of second-placed Chris Dyson's best effort in the Dyson Lola-Mazda. Championship leader Highcroft was third with Simon Pagenaud, the team struggling for speed slightly with its qualifying setup. The Cytosport Porsche Spyder RS that won last week at Lime Rock is sitting out this weekend after a heavy crash in practice on Thursday.

Christophe Bouchut gave the Level 5 team another LMPC pole, while GT saw a Ferrari 1-2 with Risi's Toni Vilander and Gianmaria Bruno just ahead of the two Corvettes. Black Swan Racing's Jereon Bleekemolen led the way in the GT class again.
