TOPEKA, Kan. (Feb. 27, 2004) – Dodge Motorsports has announced the richest contingency program in SCCA SPEED World Challenge history, with a posting of nearly a quarter of a million dollars for the 2004 season.
Drivers of the current body Dodge Viper, called the Competition Coupe, will be eligible for cash awards at each SCCA SPEED GT race in which they place in the top 10. Winners will receive $7,500, with $5,000 going to second place, $2,000 to third and $1,000 to any other driver in the top 10.
Should Dodge capture the SPEED GT Manufacturers’ Championship Presented by Racer, an additional $20,000 will be distributed amongst Viper teams scoring Manufacturers’ points throughout the year.
Dodge will also post an impressive contingency package for its Neon ACR and SRT-4 Model in SCCA Club Racing, Solo and Rally events in 2004.
“At Dodge Motorsports, we are proud to be able to offer our customers an opportunity to not only compete in the SCCA SPEED World Challenge with our Viper Competition Coupe, but also to support their efforts financially with a first class contingency program,” Dodge Motorsports Director John Fernandez said. “This program, along with our SCCA Club Racing contingency program, shows Dodge’s commitment not only to the Pro Racers who campaign our products, but also to all the amateur racers who participate in SCCA’s great line up of events and activities."
“The SCCA SPEED World Challenge is designed for manufacturers to show off their products, and we’re thrilled that Dodge will offer such great support to its teams for 2004,” SCCA Vice President of Marketing Garret Mudd said. “With its diverse and strong contingency programs, Dodge has positioned itself as the leading supporter of competitors in all SCCA activities.”
The SCCA SPEED World Challenge GT Championship makes its first standing start of the 2004 season March 19 at Sebring International Raceway as part of the Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring weekend.
