Rimicci Corse has signed Ken Dobson to partner Anthony Rimicci in the 2013 Pirelli World Challenge season. The Californian will drive the No. 59 Rimicci Corse Fiat Abarth.
"I know all about being an outcast – I once raced a Pontiac Sunfire," said Dobson. "I'm super excited about getting back into World Challenge Touring Car. It was the first professional racing series I raced in and the most fun racing I ever did. To come back to the series with Anthony and the rest of the Italian clan, who have always been fun to be around, is super exciting."
The Pirelli World Challenge Touring Car season opener at Circuit of The Americas in Austin will be Rimicci's first professional race in a car built and developed by his team, making an old experienced driver such as Dobson a necessity for the new program.
"It will be an eye-opener for Anthony," added Dobson. "The biggest thing for him will be to be consistent and to put results up all the time. The Fiat will have its challenges to overcome, but it does have some distinct advantages – it's easier to fit them in the trailer, and chicks dig them. They have a certain je ne sais quoi, or however that translates into Italian. I bought one for my girlfriend."
"Ken and I have been friends for a long time and when we got this whole project going – he was one of the first guys we talked to," said Rimicci. "He's not Italian but he gets our sense of humor. I'll be leaning on him a lot this year, with the seasons of experience he has in World Challenge, to help me and the cars get up to speed."
