Scott Dixon was quickest in an uneventful final practice session ahead of today's Kansas Speedway round of the IndyCar Series - the championship's first oval event of 2009.
The Ganassi driver topped the times for most of the duration, eventually beating Andretti Green's Tony Kanaan by 0.0558 seconds.
Helio Castroneves and Dario Franchitti - who will both start from the back after having their qualifying laps disallowed for crossing the white line - were third and fourth, ahead of Panther's Dan Wheldon, who is chasing his third consecutive win at the track.
Pole-sitter Graham Rahal (Newman/Haas/Lanigan) was seventh, with his front row partner and team-mate Robert Doornbos 12th.
The revived Sunday morning session was part of a revised schedule for this year, and replaced the second practice previously held prior to qualifying on Saturday, giving the teams an opportunity to fine-tune their cars in race day conditions.
But what was initially planned as an hour-long, split group session actually became a half-hour thrash for all 22 cars, and was rescheduled to run after the Indy Lights race amid continuing concerns about bad weather following the tornado that hit the area last night.
The race is currently intended to start at 4.30pm local time.
