Derek Daly, founder of the Derek Daly Academy will once again present his career development seminar at North America's largest trade show dedicated to motorsport. The presentation will take place at the Performance Racing Industry Show on Friday, Nov. 30 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in meeting room S230C located along the main concourse entrance.
Titled "Understanding Career Development for Racecar Drivers," Derek Daly uses his distinguished 35 years of motorsports experience to map out a career plan, an environment plan and a financial plan that fits the drivers' personal career path. This year DDA will be working Skip Barber Racing Schools to present the program at PRI and at the Skip Barber Shootout, which takes place a few weeks after PRI.
"Derek has dedicated his life to understanding how to optimize driver performance," noted Skip Barber Racing Schools CEO Michael Culver. He has meticulously dissected his own career as well as others and revealed very powerful conclusions about how athletes learn. His findings are applicable to any athlete and, in part, any performer."
The Financial Planning Matrix is a tool to help a driver's support team understand how much funding they require to build a career, what different sources of funding there are and how a funding program will develop over a career. Using a five-year planning horizon, the DDA Financial Planning Matrix breaks down the various forms and channels of funding into specific sponsorship or activation programs. With the DDA Financial Planning Matrix, we are not just telling you what to do, but rather how to do it, while assisting you through the process.
"There is no magic to being successful in racing, as it is a very complex sport with lots of moving parts. You have to have more of the success ingredients aligned than your competition does to be consistently successful," said Daly. "DDA takes a holistic approach and clearly maps out what a driver and/or parent needs to do to consistently position the driver to be successful."
The objective of this program is to give each racer the tools to find the funding. DDA will also map out possible activation programs among your list of contacts and connections, as these are the proven best sources of support especially in the initial phases of the drivers racing career.
"We officially launched the Financial Planning Matrix last year at the Performance Racing Industry Show. This is the part that every parent and driver has been waiting for," continues Daly. "As the year of racing closes out, everyone's attention turns to next season. Most of that attention is focused on developing the funding to race at the next level. We take the guesswork out of it and demonstrate how to be creative and practical when raising funds."
