WILMINGTON, Del. (April 9, 2007) - Speaking to over 160 students and their teachers at the Bayard Intermediate School, in Wilmington, Del., former karting champion, SCCA Jim Fitzgerald Award winner and two-time Northeast Division Champion Jim Schultz brought his unique motivational message to life for the Racing to Read Challenge Presented by Bridgestone.

Using his own educational and racing experiences Schultz, who started the Racing to Read Challenge when he was 16, cleverly tied together the importance of good reading habits to his success as a race driver. Students who correctly answered questions covered during the presentation were rewarded with special prizes. All students, many of whom knew nothing about motorsports, were treated with caps compliments of Bridgestone Motorsports along with up close looks at racing karts. As always, Philadelphia Region member Schultz could not get away with out signing many autographs.

“It’s important for students to understand the connection between what they are learning in school today, as it relates to their success later in life,” Schultz said.
