Randy de Puniet had successful surgery on Friday to remove the screw that had been inserted in his left knee following his crash in last year's German Grand Prix.
The Frenchman, then riding for LCR Honda, was caught up in a multi-bike accident in the Sachsenring race last July, during which his leg was run over by Mika Kallio's Pramac Ducati.
De Puniet, who now rides for Pramac himself, only missed one race following the incident. He hopes the latest operation will make his form stronger when MotoGP resumes at Estoril next month.
"I'm fine, though now that the local anesthesia has lost its effect I feel a bit of pain," de Puniet. "One chapter closes, now without this screw I hope to improve my performance on track."
