Ford Performance Racing swept the front row for V8 Supercars' final Hamilton street race, with Will Davison taking pole ahead of team-mate Mark Winterbottom.
Reigning champion Jamie Whincup had been looking good for pole in the Triple Eight Holden until a wild flight over the Turn 4 chicane curbs sent him into the wall with a third of the session still go go.
Whincup was on provisional pole at the time, and his 1m21.9914s still held up for third place, alongside team-mate Craig Lowndes. But it was the FPR duo who came through to snatch the front row places, with Saturday race winner and championship leader Davison putting in a 1m21.9712s to beat Winterbottom to the top spot by 0.0146sec.
David Reynolds continued his strong weekend to put the third car from the FPR stable fifth on the grid, ahead of an impressive performance from owner/driver Tony D'Alberto and race one polesitter Garth Tander (Holden Racing Team).
Fabian Coulthard (Brad Jones Racing Holden), James Moffat (Dick Johnson Ford) and Lee Holdsworth (Stone Brothers Ford) completed the top 10, while the second Stone Brothers car of Shane van Gisbergen only managed 14th after starting on the front row on Saturday.
