Anthony DavidsonFormer grand prix driver Anthony Davidson is in the frame for a drive in the new Nissan GT-R in July's Spa 24 Hours, this week's AUTOSPORT magazine reveals.

Nissan's in-house motorsport arm, NISMO, has confirmed that its new-rules GT1 contender will contest the FIA GT Championship's blue-riband event as part of its four-race development program in 2009.

Davidson is "one of the candidates" for a drive alongside Michael Krumm and Darren Turner, according to NISMO boss Yuichi Samada.

Ex-Super Aguri driver Davidson would not be a GT newcomer, having previously driven a Prodrive Ferrari 550 Maranello GT1 car in several events in 2003.

The development GT-R will make its debut in the Silverstone FIA GT season opener at the start of next month.
