Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca has announced that next year's American Le Mans Series weekend is set for Saturday, May 11, rather than May 18 as originally scheduled. The track said the change was made "due to a scheduling conflict with a popular European race."
The May 17-19 weekend coincides with three other events: the European Le Mans Series will race at Imola in Italy with FFSA GT Tour on May 18, the Nurburgring 24 Hours, and the stateside debut of the V8 Supercar Series at Austin's Circuit of The Americas.
“The drivers who compete in American Le Mans contacted the Series requesting a date change for our event,” says Gill Campbell, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca CEO/general manager. “We are pleased and honored that they felt so strongly about racing here that they asked for a date change so they would not miss the action and exhilaration this track provides.”
The Laguna event will be a six-hour endurance race.
