World Touring Car independent Stefano D'Aste will return to Proteam Motorsport this season.
The Italian former rally driver, who won the class title in 2007, has frequently swapped between the Wiechers-Sport and Proteam outfits over the last five years. He drove for Wiechers in 2007 and 2009, and Proteam in 2005, 2006 and 2008.
"I am really happy I have received this offer," said D'Aste. "We managed to find a deal quickly because we have the same goal: achieving the best possible results without wasting money."
"I am very pleased with our agreement," Proteam boss Valmiro Presenzini added. "With Stefano back in the team we can look at the next season with a lot of expectations."
Proteam expects to unveil a second driver in the coming weeks.
