Antonio Felix da Costa has joined Ocean Racing Technology for next month's non-championship GP2 event at Yas Marina.
The 20-year-old Portuguese driver, who was a race winner in GP3 this year, has agreed to a deal to compete in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix support races after impressing the team in testing at Jerez earlier this month, and will again drive in this week's Barcelona test.
"I am well-adapted to the car, the team and the engineers. I am sure that we can be in the top five or six in the Barcelona tests," he said. "The first session went very well and my goal, and the team's goal, is to take it to the next level in our development process."
Da Costa will be joined at the Barcelona test by Brendon Hartley – who drove for Ocean at the final two rounds of this year's championship, and F3 Euro Series front-runner Nigel Melker, who is also driving for iSport at the circuit.
Ocean co-owners Tiago Monteiro and Jose Guedes said that they aim to use the Barcelona test to find a teammate for da Costa for the Yas Marina races.
