Cal Crutchlow walked away from a high-speed crash during the early stages of MotoGP's group test at the Catalunya circuit. The Briton had only completed one fast lap when he hit a wet patch at around 125mph on the approach to Turn 4.
While Crutchlow was relatively unhurt in the accident his bike was destroyed, with some parts apparently clearing the perimeter fencing.
"Massive, massive crash 2nd lap on wet patch under bridge no one could see," Crutchlow, who finished fifth in yesterday's Catalunya Grand Prix, tweeted. "Took a lot of skin off my back and shoulders but am OK! Went back out as we have a job to do. So sorry to boys as bike was totaled."
Crutchlow has since been able to rejoin the test on a second chassis, and was 11th fastest at the midday break. Honda's Casey Stoner led the way with a 1m42.458s, ahead of teammate Dani Pedrosa.
