Cal Crutchlow declared his career-best MotoGP qualifying performance the ideal way to thank Tech 3 Yamaha for re-signing him for 2013.
Tech 3 announced on Saturday morning at Brno that it had agreed a new deal with Crutchlow, who will partner fellow Briton Bradley Smith in the team next year as the 21-year-old steps up from Moto2.
Crutchlow went on to rebound from an early crash to qualify second for the Czech Grand Prix.
"I was confident. It's nice to be consistently up there in the results this weekend – a little bit different to Indy," he said. "It's nice to be able to reward the Monster Tech 3 Yamaha team and Yamaha straight away from the decision to stay with them for next year."
He felt he could have done better still had he not crashed his primary bike.
"It's a shame I had a stupid small crash," said Crutchlow. "I managed to find the only bump and managed to hit it. My own fault. I went back out with the other bike but the one I crashed was my preferred bike with the right set-up."
