IndyCar team owner Dale Coyne declared himself pleased with Australian James Davison's performance in testing at Mid-Ohio this week.
Davison, who won twice at Mid-Ohio in Indy Lights, spent a day in Dale Coyne Racing's second car alongside Justin Wilson, and Coyne said that the Australian adapted quickly.
"James did a great job," Coyne said. "James had won two races here in Indy Lights but has not raced an open-wheel car in four years. To be within one second of Justin's comparable times was very impressive."
Davison previously tested an IndyCar for Andretti Autosport in late 2011, but this weekend's outing was his first in the current DW12 chassis.
"It was great to finally get a proper chance to see what I could do in these cars," he said.
Coyne has rotated the lineup in its sister car this season, with Pippa Mann, Ana Beatriz and Detroit winner Mike Conway also making appearances alongside Wilson.
