The Chevrolet Corvettes of Selleslagh Racing and Pekaracing have taken control of the Spa 24 Hours just after one-third distance.
Just before the seventh-hour mark, the No. 1 Maserati driven by Alexandre Sarnes Negrao had taken the lead back from Kurt Mollekens in the Peka Corvette. But Oliver Gavin, back aboard the Sellelagh car, was faster than both. He was around six seconds behind Mollekens and less than 30 behind Negrau when the latest round of pit stops began, just before the eight-hour mark. Gavin's in-lap pace and speed at the start of the next stint then vaulted him into the lead.
Negrau was close in second until he crashed, possibly on oil, and the car is now losing time in the pits.
That leaves Gavin and Mollekens in first and second, with the gap growing between them. The highest Vitaphone Maserati is now the No. 2 car, currently driven by Alex Muller, which is around two minutes behind the leader.
AF Corse's grip over GT2 remains strong as Pierre Kaffer currently holds a lead of nearly one minute over teammate Jaime Melo in the #50 Ferrari 430.
The Porsche challenge has been weakened further after Richard Westbrook clashed with a faster car while he was aboard the #60 Prospeed 911. It had been fighting over third, but has now fallen down the order.
The Ford GTs continue to dominate GT3, with the Thomas Mutsch/Maxine Martin/Peter Wyss/Marc Hennerici car leading comfortably.
G2 class leaders Marcel Fassler, Henri Moser, Alexander Margeritis and Marc Basseng has just moved up to fifth overall in the Phoenix Audi R8 LMS thanks to the #1 Maserati's pit stop.
