Tom Coronel will race a diesel SEAT Leon in this year's World Touring Car Championship. The 37-year-old Dutchman, who won last year's independents' title in a gasoline-powered Leon, will drive an ex-works TDi run by SUNRED Engineering.
"I always said I wanted to have a diesel car, and at last I managed to get one," said Coronel. "It's fantastic to have the same car that has won both world championships for the last two years. It can't get better, can it?"
Coronel became the first independent to win a race outright in 2008 and believes the diesel SEAT will enable him to challenge for overall podiums throughout the 2010 season.
"With this car we can fight for podium places on a regular basis," he said.
