TOPEKA, Kan. (May 3, 2006) – Thanks to an array of contingency programs sponsored by Hawk Performance, Mothers®, Racetech and Sunoco, competitors in the SCCA Pro Racing SIRIUS Satellite Radio Mazda MX-5 Cup Presented by Hankook have a great chance to earn both cash and products in 2006 – the series’ first year.-30-
Contingency awards are posted on both a per-event and season basis, and Hawk tops the list, ready to award $7800 in cash and merchandise over the eight-event season. A check for $500 will be given to the Hawk Hot Lap winner (race fast lap) at each MX-5 race, with another $1,000 going to the driver who turns the most Hawk Hot Laps during the season. In addition, Hawk will hand out an additional $2,800 in product credit for podium finishers throughout the year.
Mothers also has both a per-event and season package ready, with more than $3,500 in monetary compensation and product certificates to be handed out to deserving drivers. Roughly half of that total will be doled out in year-end winnings, as a total of $1,750 will be awarded to the year’s top three finishers. Another $1,800 in Mothers product certificates will go to the top three at each MX-5 race, in addition to all MX-5 competitors receiving a Mothers bucket, which will be filled with the polish, wax and cleaner supplier’s product.
Racetech is showing its support of MX-5 Cup racing with a per-event program in 2006, promising $2,600 total, which will be spread over eight events, to first, third and fifth-place finishers. To be eligible for this program, drivers must use Racetech seats in their MX-5s.
Sunoco is also showing its support of SCCA Pro Racing series by continuing its Hard Charger Award program. The award, given to the MX-5 driver who makes up the most positions during each race, is good toward the purchase of Sunoco race fuel.
