TOPEKA, Kan. (Feb. 8, 2006) – Showing their continued commitment to the SCCA Club Racing program and its participants, many major manufacturers and suppliers have unveiled their support plans for 2006, including more than $1 million in potential payouts through SCCA-administered programs alone.-30-
“Contingency programs annually provide a great deal of support for our competitors and we are grateful for the active involvement manufacturers and suppliers display each season,” SCCA Director of Club Racing Terry Ozment said. “We must thank each and every one of our partners who support SCCA Club Racing competition and enhance our high-quality program with high-quality contingency programs.”
Kumho tops the list of potential payouts among SCCA-administered programs with more than $480,000 earmarked for American Sedan, Touring 1, Touring 2, Showroom Stock B and Showroom Stock C drivers who finish on the podium at SCCA Club Racing National events. In addition, Kumho has also set a smaller regional program in place.
Ready to give nearly $300,000 in payouts in 2006, General Motors Performance Division tops the list of manufacturer programs with $292,750 in potential prize-winnings going to participating competitors in the T1, T2, T3, SSB and SSC classes.
Following close behind, Dodge ($235,800) is also ready to make a healthy contribution to SCCA Club Racers in the T1, T2 and SSC classes.
Subaru has also crested the six-figure plateau, as the manufacturer will potentially pay out up to $101,800 in T2 and T3 through its national program.
After expanding its program during the off-season, Summit Racing Equipment’s national program will include the E Production, Grand Touring 1, American Sedan, T1, T2, SSB and SSC classes and could dole out up to $113,750.
Toyo Tires, a mainstay in SCCA competition for years, is back on board again in 2006, allowing its program participants in Spec Miata the chance to compete for $85,000 in total payouts.
Hoosier, Goodyear, Hankook, Mazda, Toyota and Nissan are all on board with SCCA Club Racing as well, as all will offer basic programs for the 2006 season.
