Kosuke Matsuura is to return to the IndyCar Series with Conquest Racing for his home event at Motegi in September.
The 29-year-old raced in the championship with the Fernandez and Panther teams between 2003 and 2007, before Honda transferred its Formula Dream backing to Indy Lights stand-out Hideki Mutoh, who currently races for Andretti Green.
Conquest has been competing in a limited schedule with Alex Tagliani this season, and although the Canadian's best result of the year is a ninth place, he was on course to take a shock win in Toronto before the pit closure rules spoiled his strategy.
Matsuura, who returned to the Japanese domestic scene after leaving IndyCar, is confident that he will soon be back up to speed when he returns to the series.
"It's been two years since I last raced in the IndyCar Series but I will be 100 per cent prepared and put in my best performance during the 200 laps," he said.
