TOPEKA, Kan. (June 30, 2004) – Phil Clarke has resigned from the position of Director of SCCA Club Racing, effective July 28. Clarke has taken a position as Operations Manager at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, Cape Canaveral, Fla.

“I thank the SCCA members for the opportunity to serve the Club and to be a part of the best team in Motorsports,” Clarke, a 17-year member, said. “Since joining the national staff in 2002, I have seen many positive changes that will determine the future growth and success of the SCCA programs. The entire staff is working to make the SCCA experience better for all of our present and future members. I thank all of our members for their support and wish the SCCA the greatest success in the future.”

“Hiring great staff has upsides and downsides for any organization,” Steve Johnson, SCCA President and CEO said. “The upside is that your organization and all associated with it grow and evolve into a premier benchmarked organization. We have been very fortunate to have this happen at SCCA.

“The downside is that other organizations approach your staff and entice them to leave by offering opportunities and incentives to further their career development. Our Club Racing program is far better because of Phil and his team’s contributions.”

Clarke, who joined the staff in 2002 after serving as director of operations for the San Diego SeaWorld, and wife Karen will relocate to the Orlando area.
