Chrysler is evaluating a return to international GT competition with the next generation of Viper, according to AUTOSPORT.
The manufacturer, which took a hat-trick of GTS class wins at the Le Mans 24 Hours from 1998-2000 with the original Viper Coupe, has begun to look at the possibility of taking on BMW, Ferrari, Chevrolet and Porsche in the GTE category. Riley Technologies, which has produced the title-winning Grand-Am chassis for the past eight years, has been commissioned to undertake a technical analysis of the new road car, which will be available in 2013.
Chrysler's motorsport manager Gary Johnson said: "We are investigating some things and seeing what is out there, although no decision has been made yet. We have to be very careful about what we do."
