Karun Chandhok will become the first Formula 1 driver to try out grand prix machinery on the new Korean track when he puts on a demonstration for Red Bull Racing next month.
Chandhok has been asked by Red Bull to fill in at the Sept. 4 event, which will mark the first on-track action for the new Korean venue.
"Red Bull and I know each other from my days on the junior program," said Chandhok, who has raced for HRT this season but has been replaced in recent events by Sakon Yamamoto. "The team's regular drivers weren't available due to other commitments, so I was happy to fill in.
"It'll be a real honor to be one of the first people to drive around the new Korean circuit. The layout looks quite good fun on paper and I look forward to driving a winning team's car there next weekend."
Korea had hoped to have its track finished by the end of this month, but poor weather at the venue has delayed its completion.
