Super Nova has signed Johnny Cecotto for the GP2 Asia Series, with the potential for the 21-year-old Venezuelan to stay on with the team for the main season as well.
Cecotto raced for Trident in both GP2 Asia and the summer championship last year, though a fourth place in Monaco was his only points finish of the main campaign.
"First of all I am very, very happy to be working with such an important team in international motorsport," said Cecotto. "It will be a tough GP2 Asia championship, with all of the main series drivers involved but my target is the top three and I am confident that we can achieve this."
Team boss David Sears added: "We have monitored his progress for the past few seasons and feel that he is an extremely talented young driver with the potential to deliver some excellent results as part of the Super Nova family."
Cecotto will join Renault Formula 1 reserve driver Fairuz Fauzy at Super Nova, as the Malaysian returns to GP2 for the first time since finishing fourth in the 2008 Asian series with the same team.
